Shore Shredders – Spring Break

The Shore Shredders is for intermediate riders that would like to start riding or are already riding the trails on Fromme Mountain. Riders must have spent time riding the technical trails in the Demo Forest (Richard Juryn and Circuit 8).

They will advance skills related to body position, level pedals, gears, climbing, cornering and line selection, on terrain that becomes progressively more technical!

The  week will be spent on Fromme Mountain shredding Roadside Attraction, King of the Shore, Bobsled, Floppy Bunny, and the Griffens. During their week, they will expand their trail knowledge and climb higher to ride Kirkford, Crinkum Crankum, Leppard or Expresso, based on Coach discretion.

The Shore Shredders will advance skills related to body position, level pedals, climbing, cornering, line selection and so much more, on terrain that becomes progressively more technical!

All riders will be assessed on day 1 and placed into appropriate skill groups.

Information

Requirements

If your child does not have the skills to be able to ride the terrain for their camp, we will try to fit them into another camp.

If we are not able to place them into an appropriate camp, we will not be able to refund your registration fee.

Let’s have a chat and find a solution that will work well for us both.

Riders must have spent time riding the technical trails in the Demo Forest (Richard Juryn and Circuit 8). They need to be able to ride uphill to Bobsled, a number of times, during the course of each session.

They also need the following:

  • 24″wheel or larger is mandatory
  • full face helmet – strongly recommended
  • elbow & knee pads strongly recommended
  • Quick release(manual lever) needed for riders’ seat – mandatory
  • ability to use gears and brakes
  • the use of level pedals
  • have an understanding that different body positions are used for descent and ascent
  • realize that a rider needs to go up, before they have the joy associated with going down
What to Bring

The Obvious: bike and helmet
The Not So Obvious: a spare tube (mandatory), specific to your wheel circumference, snack, lunch (no nuts please), water and layers, all carried in a backpack by the rider.

Expectations
Can my child always ride with their friend?

We make every effort to keep friends together, but it cannot be guaranteed.

Our groups are created to ensure each rider is kept engaged and in their challenge zone. This creates a cohesive group and a better experience for all the riders.

The groups are defined by the skills of all the children attending that week.

BIKE TUNE UP MANDATORY

Please ensure that your child’s bike is tuned up and ready to roll a few weeks prior to coming to camp.  Bike stores are very busy so phone and make an appointment for the tune up.

Having your child’s bike in good operational condition will create a positive experience for your child.
